Habits can form quickly it seems. I go many years without being aware of pho, then a few more not having tried it.
Now, once that cherry is popped, I was back for more again within the same week.
A very short wait later the steaming bowls of goodness arrive. Funnily enough, this also looks basically identical to Pho SA. There is the accompanying plate of fresh herbs, chilli and sprouts, but this time there are lime wedges replacing the lemon. Big ticks from me there.
The broth was rich and full flavoured, with a really lovely slightly thicker texture to the stock. The beef was beautiful and tender and of good quantity, with the excellent rice noodles filling things out. There was sriracha sauce and hoi sin at the table, as well as a bowl of what I am calling roasted chilli jam. Put this all together, tweaking things to suit with a squeeze of this and few more leaves of that, and you can hit your personal sweet spot. Delicious.
So to put it simply, this was again excellent pho.
The prices were again representing great value, with the large bowl coming in at $13. The service was prompt and efficient, and the Coopers Pale was ICY cold.
Great food, excellent prices and good service. Happy days once more.
Adelaide Pho is open 11am-3pm, and 5pm-9pm every day.
